I have always been surprised by how little common sense some doctors have, and how little science people that are outside the medical community actually know or understand. That has left us in pretty much stuck in darkness, and nowhere is this more obvious than when it comes to raising children.
I quite franky had no idea of the levels of absurdity and misinforomation that exist when it comes to advice about parenting, until my wife and I found out last year that a beautiful baby girl was about to enter our lives. While my wife was morr laid back, my naturallt analytical mind demanded that I learn everything possible about everything possibly to do with children. After all, that is how I succesfully navigated the challenges of my surgical specialty so clearly in my mind all we needed to be good parents was ….. some common sense and a dash of science.
Little did I know that I was about to enter the twilight zone. At least the good news was that despite all the crazy stuff out there, the statistical survivability of children is pretty high, so for all you stress parents out there, you have to try REALLY hard to actually screw it up.
But for those of you, like me, who want to do at least a little better than average, lets try to shed some light on the darkness.
